Who am I?
My name is Sylvie (1965). I have three grown up children and I love Life, the Arts, Beauty and Nature and… baking (even more so sharing it)! I am a marathoner and hiker, and I love sports in general. I am also an invisible handicap advocate. I speak fluent English, French, and German. After 15 years of teaching literature and linguistics in France, Germany, Poland, and in French Lycées abroad (AEFE), I decided to focus on my other passion: yoga. My passion became my mission: to make yoga accessible to everybody and every body, to help shape body and mindset by sharing the wonderful gift of this ancestral practice, the benefits of which continue to make profound contributions in integrative healthcare environments worldwide. I have been practicing Hatha Yoga since 1990 and teaching it since 2011 in France, Germany, the USA, and the UK (private, small groups in studios and schools, big groups in the corporate world).
- I am a senior Experienced-Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500) at Yoga Alliance (www.yogaalliance.org) after graduating from the International Śivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres.
- After my Advanced Teacher Training Certification (ATTC), I became a Yoga Acharya (Master of Yoga, M.A) and a Yoga Bhaskara, post graduate degrees in yogic techniques and spiritual practices.
- I have been studying Sanskrit, philosophy (Raja Yoga), and scriptures since 2011, and currently at the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies (OCHS).
- I am also a Yoga Alliance Continuous Education Provider (YACEP) with credentials from IPATH® to train future teachers.
- I am honoured to help spread the IPATH® Method in Europe as the only master teacher in the UK, France, and Germany after training in the USA.
- I am an Experienced Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT) trained at the Yoga Therapy Institute in Amsterdam, Netherlands with credentials from the International Association of Yoga Therapists (www.iayt.org).*
- I’ve been trained to work trauma-informed by Trauma Center for Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Netherlands (TCTSYN).
*The IAYT’s requirements and credentials for certification provide a vital quality control mechanism for the field of Yoga Therapy and a public stamp of approval to highly trained Yoga Therapists (C-IAYT).

I had suffered from liposarcoma of the left axilla many years ago. Following removal of the tumor, I was left with only partial mobility of the left arm and swelling of the lymph nodes. Sylvie saw me over four sessions in her studio which is a quiet, soothing and functional space for her practice. She is truly the most devoted and patient teacher I have ever had. I had never attended a yoga class and did not have any knowledge of the subject. She focused on me as an individual, listened to, questioned and observed me in order to develop a specialized program to meet my needs. She taught me techniques, movements, and tools I needed to better function and improve my physical, mental, and emotional being. Sylvie worked out ways to make up for any difficulties I encountered in performing movements and breathing which were not only those caused by cancer but some joint and digestive problems that one encounters as we age. It is through Sylvie’s love of her profession, devotion to her patients as individuals, and knowledge and constant attention to detail that makes her an outstanding yoga therapist and yoga teacher.
I sought help from Sylvie regarding chronic pain (migraines and sacral pain), depression and anxiety, and for help with the disconnect between my mind and my body. As a transgender individual (physically transitioned from female to male over the last 3.5 years), the connection between my mind and my body has always faced challenges. Sylvie was thorough in her intake process, taking the time to understand my complicated medical history and asking informed questions about my transition in a non-invasive format. She did additional research to ensure my comfort with her in such an intimate setting and that was apparent from our first session. Sylvie quickly tuned into my desire to tap into the spiritual side of yoga and, after checking to see if I was comfortable, incorporated a more spiritual meditation to our sessions. She provided me with written instructions regarding the positions and topics we covered at my last session so that I could continue them on my own. Overall, I would classify this experience as a mark in a change in my life. My last session culminated in my departure for a surgical consult, something that I felt more at ease with after working with Sylvie. I am very grateful for our shared experience and am excited to stay in touch with her throughout my transition.
After long years of high-intensity sports, I have been struggling with some severe shoulder- and back-pain issues. With that background I was extremely lucky to meet Sylvie who guided me through custom made sessions of Yoga Therapy. I think Sylvie is an outstanding teacher who has provided me with some important quality instruction. I found Sylvie to the utmost warm, caring, patient, highly-skilled, trustworthy, and empathetic. I still do the exercises she suggested three to four times per week and my shoulder/back situation is improving significantly. I highly recommend Sylvie as a yoga therapist.
Since my incredibly thorough intake and subsequent Yoga Therapy sessions with Sylvie, I cannot get over how transformative her teachings have been to me physically, mentally, and spiritually. Sylvie is a gifted yogini, but also a rarified guide, teacher, mentor, and now a true friend. It was unlike any other yoga experience I’ve had because it was so personalized, tailored to my digestive issues. Sylvie is so authentic and highly in-tune to her students’ capabilities, needs and limitations. Her patience and attentiveness empowered me to learn and practice in a new, safe way and tailored to my specific needs. This bolstered my confidence tremendously, making it feel achievable and good for my body, but perhaps more importantly, my commitment (to myself) to maintain a daily practice when I am not with her, receiving her superior instruction and loving encouragement. Sylvie is the guide who helped me truly understand the mind/body connection after decades of dabbling with yoga. Her knowledge of yoga philosophy, systems, meditation, Ayurveda, breathing practices, ancient history – all of it is stunning – extensive – and her passion about every aspect of healing and wellbeing shines through. I also love her mesmerizing soothing voice. She is a natural educator, bursting to share her wisdom, teachings, and most gratifyingly, connect with her students knowing they are going to internalize all her teachings and keep practicing long afterwards with newfound confidence in how to safely practice yoga. I am so grateful to Sylvie for these Yoga Therapy sessions – her wealth of experience, professionalism, her value of truth and authenticity, her careful and competent instruction, and her dedication. Sylvie is one-of-a-kind. She is going to continue to touch so many lives in such a profound and positive way, as she did for me.
I knew Sylvie was an amazing yoga teacher because she had already helped me once, shortly after I had delivered my daughter. It was a rather challenging birth with huge after-birth complications. But after the first sessions, it was clear to me that the Yoga Therapy approach had become Sylvie’s mission to share the gift of yoga and to help people cope better in their healing process as it was given to her. She definitely helped to improve my health and wellness and to reduce physical and mental suffering in more ways than I could ever imagine. With her new approach and knowledge, Sylvie aspires to help others find the practice that can enable them to manifest their best selves in everything that they do in a completely new way – thanks to postures, moves, breath, guided meditation, Yoga Nidra, and her overall kindness. Sylvie is a good listener, she incorporated every little aspect of my health issues into the practice and her loving and caring attitude helped me to be kind and respectful to myself. Already after my first session I knew this could become a path of healing for me. I felt alive and vibrant, I noticed a new kind of craving to nurture myself, fill my body with healthy food and feed my mind with more positive self talk, I felt self love and worthy of joy. Sylvie helped me feel the hope of being healthy again, despite all the health issues I am currently struggling with.
I chose to do Yoga Therapy as a holistic approach to my recovery for a hip and knee replacement. I can say my experience has been truly rewarding. Sylvie did a very thorough job in assessing my issues during intake, including surgeries and my occasional asthma. She is a very good communicator, effective in her clarity of cues, and her ability to bring about focus and calm. She was able to connect with a novice in yoga and explain what we were attempting to achieve, facilitating and guiding me through each step in the process. Sylvie is a committed professional, making me feel at ease in her amazing studio, which added greatly to my experience. She adapted her approach using props when she felt I was in need of assistance, but also recognizing my abilities to go unaided in my areas of strength. One of the side benefits was our breathing exercises. This helped me to cope with my asthmatic episodes and to sleep more soundly at night which was totally unexpected. We ended each session with the Yoga Nidra, which brought me to a state I had never experienced before. I am thoroughly impressed with Sylvie’s approach and highly recommend her.
I had a series of Yoga Therapy sessions with Sylvie to learn how to cope with my auto-immune diseases (MS and Psoriasis) and manage my recurrent episodes. Sylvie has laid such fundamental change in my practice and awareness, in my lifestyle and life in general. Sylvie works professionally, properly, superbly well prepared and knowledgeable to the highest level about her individual client. She cares nicely for her clients and adapts a tailored practice for each individual. Her studio is set up beautifully, warm-colored and radiating an embracing scent, with care and invites you to a realm of deep calmness. I learned from Sylvie to take care of myself, to position the props appropriately, close my eyes, and breathe. Because this I liked the best: the breathwork, which Sylvie put a lot of emphasis on, like the Yoga Nidra, that I discovered with her. I always took home some “homework” that I tried alone. Sylvie is a warm and caring facilitator, patient and gentle, and adapts herself to my needs and provided me with a tool box to help me cope with my issues in an enjoyable and natural, comfortable way.
At sixteen I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and a stroke that affected the occipital lobe in my brain, causing some permanent damage to my vision along with permanent changes in my health and life. I’ve also dealt with panic attacks and a heavy amount of social anxiety throughout my life. To sum up my sessions with Sylvie is to say they were wonderful. The intake session and the various assessments felt very thorough, and Sylvie made the upcoming process feel structured so I knew what to expect. I felt comfortable enough to open up and I trusted her right away. Every limitation I have, whether I knew about it or not, was taken into account for the next session so that nothing Sylvie helped me do would cause potential injury or discomfort. This kind of fully well rounded physical and mental experience is very rare to find in the medical field, and I am so glad the Yoga Therapy sessions I had were so well done. Sylvie is an extremely patient and kind person and teacher. She explains everything very precisely and demonstrates all the positions, exercises, and moves whenever necessary. I had cushions, the wall, a chair or other props to support me and ensure my comfort when I needed them. I got exercises written down for me so that I could continue them on my own time once alone at home, which I am grateful for. I felt that I was set up for success at every step, even at the end. The most rewarding part of these sessions for me was the Yoga Nidra. I had never been through guided meditations before, and again, Sylvie made sure I was entirely comfortable and supported. Her voice is soothing and strong and I knew I was safe and secure the entire time. I felt like I could really start to let go and sink in. Overall, this has been a wonderful and truly life changing experience for me. It has made me value my mental space so much more and has made me determined to help myself find true peace and relaxation every day. I value this experience and Sylvie very highly and am so glad for having had both her and her Yoga Therapy at this time in my life.
During a gathering that Sylvie was in attendance, she was speaking about Yoga Therapy. I mentioned that I have some Kidney issues that give me lower back pain periodically, I asked her if she thought Yoga Therapy may help me. I knew about yoga but had never heard of Yoga Therapy before. She agreed to help me and I embarked on the journey… In session one she asked many health questions and through that she found out that I also have some anxieties probably due to trauma. In the next three sessions we did some relevant breathing exercises as well as some low impact yoga, I have to admit that I tried standard yoga before and did not find it particularly beneficial, but the postures and exercises were targeted and very beneficial, especially for my anxiety as well as the lower back pain. As an added benefit I am sleeping better, which is super for my overall health. Sylvie also introduced me to Yoga Nidra which put me in a deep relaxation. I asked if she could give me some recordings, and she did some recordings in her own voice for me, I use them at least three times a week. I have to say that she is a very patient and dedicated teacher, especially for a person like me who used to be very skeptical about yoga. Thank you Sylvie.
I got in touch with Sylvie for digestive issues (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) from which I suffer a lot. I also suffer from insomnia. I had never had Yoga Therapy before and we do the sessions online as I live in South America. I really appreciate the whole approach. First Sylvie wanted to know as much as possible about my medical history, my lifestyle, my habits and she asked me relevant questions about my personal story with great interest. I immediately felt safe and confident and I could therefore open up with ease and serenity. We did special and customized exercises for my IBS and I managed easily although Sylvie was not in the room. I had no problem to get into the postures and do the exercises and movements because her cues are clear and precise. We did a lot of breathwork for insomnia too. Sylvie’s voice is appeasing and made me feel safe. She is a very calm and gentle person. Although we work together online, I can feel the softness in her voice, her patience, and her watching me carefully as I do the movements and the postures, even when I breathe. We work a lot on my breathing and how it impacts the way I sleep or relax. Sylvie gave me good pieces of advice and tools to manage my IBS and control the pain. I also discovered Yoga Nidra, which I found extremely useful and efficient. It helps me to relax, let go and get rid of my daily stress. As far as my insomnia is concerned Sylvie did a lot of research for my particular case and gave me a lot of techniques that I can practice daily on my own. She took pictures to show me the postures and sent me the material so that I could do the exercises again on my own. Yoga Therapy is a very nice experience to share with Sylvie who truly helps me cope with my health issues.
I contacted Sylvie to help me cope with lower back pain and sciatica. I felt I could rely on her from the very first session when we went through an in-depth review of my medical history and physical assessment. Before she started designing my personal and customized Yoga Therapy sessions, Sylvie checked out the way I breathed and demonstrated outstanding powers of observation. She corrected my dysfunctional breathing and precise techniques that I still do at home. Sylvie is an extremely easy person to talk to and I felt comfortable and free to share all information with her right away. She is a very good listener too. She is empathetic and extremely patient. The practice was efficient and always adapted to the mood I was in on the day of our sessions as she had no problem to adapt quickly to her clients. Not only did she provide me with very efficient exercises and postures to relieve my physical pain, but she also made me feel free to share what was on my mind and this enabled me to focus on relevant things and relax, which had always been an issue for me. Her experience in yoga and knowledge of the human body are also developed and it is a pleasure to learn from her. She is very pedagogical and always explains the whole process perfectly. I am happy that our paths crossed.
Yoga Therapy with Sylvie is a true transformative experience of body, mind, and spirit. I contacted her because of issues linked to mental fatigue, general tiredness, stress and also a lack of general fitness and flexibility, creating extra tension in my body. I met with a warm, caring and empathetic person who has a way to bring natural healing and peace with her gentle and attentive presence. There is deep humanity in her. I felt right away her love for helping others and she managed indeed to give me the right tools to help me cope with my various issues. She also helped me understand better the way I function, breathe and feel. Sylvie is a very good listener too: she takes into account every single detail and knows how to ask the right questions. Her expertise and safe guidance together with the practice she tailor-made for me have been a tremendous pleasure and help me learn how to cope with my issues, manage stress at work and release excess muscle tension. I breathe properly and can better relax now. She gives some homework to do alone at home in order to become quickly autonomous in the practice. Sylvie’s ability to distill ancient practices into practical, comprehensible and enjoyable application is a true gift. I am grateful to her for my journey to self care, introspection and appeasement. Thank you, Sylvie.
